Hot Chocolate on Thursday by Michiko Aoyama, translated by E. Madison Shimoda, is a warm and quietly magical novel set around the Marble Café in Tokyo.
A woman visits the café every Thursday for her favourite hot chocolate, while a young waiter wonders about her life. Their story connects with those of twelve other customers and staff, revealing how small everyday moments, chance encounters and simple acts of kindness can unexpectedly affect other people's lives.
